DMC Automotive Oil Leak Repair Service
We handle oil leaks on any make or model at our Ventura shop. First, we clean your engine so we can find the exact leak source.
We check all the usual suspects—valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, rear main seals. Most leaks come from gaskets that need swapping out.
Our repair process:
- Engine cleaning and inspection
- Leak source identification
- Gasket or seal replacement
- System testing after repair
We use quality parts that meet or beat manufacturer standards. You get a warranty with every repair.
Most oil leak fixes take 2–4 hours, depending on how bad it is. We’ll give you upfront pricing before we start anything.
Book your oil leak inspection today—don’t let a small leak wreck your engine.
How Do We Find An Oil Leak?
First, we check your car while it's parked. Fresh oil spots on the driveway usually point us in the right direction.
Visual Inspection Steps:
- Pop the hood and scan for wet, shiny, or oily patches.
- Peek at the oil pan underneath your car.
- Look closely at gaskets and seals around the engine.
- Check hoses and all those connections.
We always grab a flashlight to light up those dark corners. Black or brown stains on engine parts usually give away the leak's location.
Advanced Detection Methods:
- UV dye test—we mix in a special dye with your oil.
- Pressure testing helps us spot sneaky leaks.
- Engine degreasing makes new oil marks stand out.
That UV dye trick is great for tiny leaks. We add the dye, ask you to drive a bit, then use a UV light to catch the glowing trail.
Before any test, we clean the engine. Old oil stains just get in the way and make things confusing.
Common Leak Locations
- Oil drain plug
- Oil filter area
- Valve cover gaskets
- Oil pan gasket
- Front and rear main seals
Gaskets and seals are usually the troublemakers. They wear out, especially the rubber ones, and oil sneaks past.
We like to snap photos of the leak spots. That way, you see exactly what's up and what needs fixing.
Why Does Your Vehicle Leak Oil?
Oil leaks happen for a bunch of reasons.
- Worn gaskets: heat and age make them crack and shrink.
- Loose drain plugs: this can be from overtightening the plug during an oil change and damages the threads. Then oil seeps out slowly.
- Oil filter: a loose filter or busted O-ring lets oil drip out. We always check this first.
- High mileage: rough on seals. Cars over 100,000 miles usually have a few leaks just from wear and tear.
- Bad maintenance: skipping oil changes creates sludge.
Common leak spots:
- Oil pan gasket
- Valve cover gasket
- Rear main seal
- Oil cooler lines
- Timing cover seal
Ventura’s wild temperature swings don’t help. Cold makes rubber brittle, hot days make seals swell and shrink.
Most leaks start tiny. A few drops can turn into a real headache if you ignore them.
Signs Of An Oil Leak
There are many signs of an oil leak with your vehicle, you just have to know what to look for. Fresh leaks look black or dark brown while older ones fade out and get lighter over time.
- Dark spots under your parked car
- Low oil on your dipstick
- Burning oil smell when you’re driving
- Louder than normal sounding engine
- Blue exhaust smoke
We spot oil stains on engine parts during inspections. Look for greasy or wet spots around these areas:
- Oil pan gasket
- Valve covers
- Oil filter
- Drain plug
Some leaks are sneaky and hard to spot. We use special tools to track down those hidden ones before they do real damage.
If you see any of these signs, don’t wait. Bring your car in for an inspection.
