What Does the Radiator Do?
Your car's radiator keeps the engine from overheating. It moves coolant through the system to pull heat away.
If the radiator fails, you'll know it.
Signs That Point to Radiator Trouble
An overheating engine is the most common sign we see at our shop. When your temperature gauge climbs into the red zone, or you spot steam curling out from under the hood, it's usually a radiator issue.
Coolant leaks show up as green, orange, or pink puddles under your car. We usually spot these leaks near the front of the vehicle.
Small leaks? They can turn into big headaches before you know it.
Low coolant levels mean your radiator isn't holding enough fluid. Check your overflow tank now and then—if it keeps dropping, odds are you've got a leak hiding somewhere.
White exhaust smoke might mean coolant's burning up in the engine. That usually happens if the radiator system totally fails.
Rust-colored coolant is another red flag, hinting at internal damage inside the radiator.
If you're getting poor heating inside your car during winter, that's another clue. The heater relies on hot coolant to warm up the air in your cabin, so if it's not working, the radiator could be to blame.
If you see any of these signs, stop by our shop so we can discover the root cause.
